Welcome to SEWA (Sikh Educational Welfare Association), a non-profit association organized for educational and religious purposes within the meaning of Sec. 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.

A little history about Sikhism

SEWA wants to spread the message of Guru Nanak of universal brotherhood and service to mankind. SEWA is dedicated to the services of Bhai Kanhayya who was offering water to the thirsty soldiers of both sides in a war between Sikhs and Mugals at the time of Guru Gobind Singh.

The overall objectives of this organization include:

  1. To help disadvantaged Sikh American and other minority young boys and girls of low income group to get admission in much sought after professional and vocational institutions by giving scholarships and proper guidance based on their aptitude. Additionally arranging Science, Computer and Math classes so that they can improve their educational standard to be competitive in this world economy.
  2. To promote activities for senior Sikh American and other minority senior citizens so that they feel that they are still wanted and they can contribute to the society.
  3. To promote religious activities for Sikhs
  4. To foster friendship and understanding with people of other ethnic backgrounds;
  5. To raise, solicit, collect, and disburse fund, charities, and donations for religious, educational, and humanitarian purposes, directly in cooperation with other organizations in USA.
